Chris Hooper
Christopher is a newcomer to the artists’ scene. He already had it figured out at school that he had a talent for painting, but it took a long time to face up to the challenge. After an introduction to art by well-known Noosa artist Bill McKay, he gave up his profession as a furniture designer in 2002 to concentrate on painting, culminating in his first exhibition at the Sunshine Coast in September 2005.
His style hovers between realism and impressionism and he is always experimenting. Currently, he is trialling various impasto techniques, seeing how a pallet knife can introduce new effects.
Artist Comment: "My paintings are non-confrontational – I like positive emotions and the people who buy them should feel a bit like they are on holidays – that the paintings bring a part of the beautiful Sunshine Coast into their homes."
