Christine Atkins
Christine has been a full time professional artist for the past 15 years. Her paintings convey the tropical flavour of life in Queensland , with depictions of cool verandahs and overgrown gardens with their rickety fences and mango, papaw and monsteria growing in wild abundance.
Strong light has always been a feature of Christine\'s work and she often paints sunny interiors with the light flooding in through windows or the winter sunlight streaming through the railings of a northerly verandah.
Christine is well known for her still life subjects. The flowers in those paintings are usually gleaned from her garden or from street trees in suburbs close to her home studio. As a result, Christine has quite a large following among Queensland art collectors and her work is always in demand.
In the years since 1980 Christine has won over 50 first prizes in art competitions, including a first prize in the Royal Queensland Show for 3 consecutive years.

- Darcy Doyle Art Award, 2006 - 1st Prize, Still Life for \'Orange Bloodwood\'
- 38th Annual Ernest Henry Art Show 2006, Cloncurry - 1st Prize, Landscape for \'Rathdowney Farm\'
- Royal Queensland Show 2006\' Brisbane - 1st Prize, Paintings in Soft Pastel for \'April in Venice\'
