Rendezvous Exhibition - Featuring Christine Reilly

chris_reilly_rendezvousWith Christine Reilly’s latest series of works she takes us on a journey across the figurative in her own inimitable style, from her interpretation of flamboyant French and Italian images gleaned from her travels, to evocative recollections of Queensland.

We are proud to present the much anticipated exhibition “Rendezvous”, which has been a year in the planning and execution. Christine is one of our most valued and well loved artists, and you will be absolutely delighted with this selection of exquisite paintings. We do hope you can join us on the preview night or at her art demonstration on the following Saturday, which coincides with the famed Jan Power Farmer’s Markets held here in Manly. Mark it in your diary as an Exhibition not to be missed.

Christine Reilly’s exhibition ‘Rendezvous’ allow us a glimpse into her kaleidoscope world of people and places.

Her latest series of works takes us on a journey across the figurative, from her interpretation of flamboyant French and Italian images to evocative recollections of Queensland.

Her obsession with figures is obvious, ‘I just can‘t stop putting people in my paintings” Chris explains, “I look for subjects that arouse my enthusiasm and demand that I paint them.”

Chris portrays all her characters with colour and movement- making them come alive on the canvas. Her placement of tones draws the viewer into the work and the composition keeps them involved.

This exhibition demonstrates the Artist’s love of both European travel and people-watching at home and abroad. It chronicles not only the progression of her subjects and style, but also her own journey as an artist and women.

“The process is the important thing, the struggle; excitement and energy which are so much a part of the creative process can be intoxicating. Some subjects become favourites, contributing to my personal language and then allowing me to indulge in the sheer pleasure of creating.”

The Manly Gallery Presents
Bruce Buchanan & Pam Walpole
From the outback to the sea
Exhibition 3 -19 April 2009

Coastal waters, rocky ranges, and historic ruins – these are some of the subjects portrayed by two artists who met up in the Flinders Ranges in South Australia. Bruce – an award winning watercolourist, has visited the area eight times to draw and paint. His enthusiasm for the area rubbed off on Pam - an acclaimed contemporar landscape artist, who travelled via the Strzelecki Track to meet up at Parachilna in South Australia. Bruce’s finely executed watercolours and Pam’s bold canvases capture these moments yet deliver different perspectives on an everchanging landscape.

Burke and Wills campsites – waterholes & woolsheds, bores, rivers and lakes then finally the sea – a journey to sketch and record the colours and atmosphere. Closer to home, some familiar sites will be sure to please. Bruce and Pam are holding an exhibition of the results of this trip at the Manly Gallery from the 3rd April.
