The Manly Gallery - Pat Tolcher
About Pat Tolcher
My work is largely intuitive and evolves during the creative process. A continuing theme of much of my paintings are the human figure - usually women and children.
This is reflected in a series of acrylic paintings and sometimes sculptures. The totemic structure influence is evident in my work, depicting the interaction and interdependence of the human race. I also work on collages using handmade papers (eg papyrus, bulrushes and banana leaves), insects, bones and other natural artifacts. These works are my "still lifes" and focus on the beauty and unique qualities of natural objects combined with different textural qualities of handmade papers.
Collections: Pat's works have been acquired by Moreton Shire Council, Redland Shire Council, Redcliffe City Council, Redeemer Lutheran College, Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery, Logan Shire Council and Kooralbyn International School. As well as this, she has received commissions from private sector organisations.
